Rainforest Alliance

Coffee is the most popular Rainforest Alliance Certified product in the world, followed by tea. What does this mean? The locations that these coffees come from meet rigorous social, environmental, and economic standards. According to the Rainforest Alliance, these farms receive regular audits to ensure sustainable farming principles. This includes: improved livelihoods and human well-being, biodiversity conservation, natural resource conservation, and effective planning and farm management systems. 

Organic

What does it mean to say a coffee is organic? Farmers grow organic coffee without the use of synthetic fertilizers and pesticides. The United State Department of Agriculture’s National Organic Program tests these coffees and makes sure they meet the stringent regulations.

Bird Friendly

Bird Friendly Coffee receives its certification from the Smithsonian Migratory Bird Center. In order to be considered Bird Friendly, the coffee must be organic, and also come from farms that provide forest-like habitats for birds. These coffees are shade-grown, or planted under a canopy of trees, and the farmers do not clear the land of all natural vegetation.

Fair Trade

Fair Trade certified farmers receive fair wages in exchange for the high quality coffee they provide.
